In poll festivity, J&K asks for SMSes

JAMMU, Oct 22: Between Eid and forthcoming Diwali, there is a mega festival which transcends all barriers, faiths and identities, but absence of the potential modern day messenger to take the sharp and crisp messages across is irking one and all.
Like other parts of the country the stat of Jammu & Kashmir did not lack behind in adopting the use of mobile phones, throughout the length and breadth of the state, men, women and youngsters are found using this latest mode of communication. A number of private mobiles companies spread their not work along with BSNL, a government organization. Even daily wagers which include vegetables sellers, and petty shopkeepers etc are using it, but he ban imposed on sending short messages service (SMS) within in a twinkle of eye has made mobile users has made subscribers dejected. There is a demand that the ban imposed on SMS during two months long agitation he removed immediately as law and order in the state is normal and people re busy with their daily routine work. This correspondent while talking to some mobile subscriber’s came to the conclusion that the ban on SMS be removed immediately. Keeping in view the importance of time into consideration under present circumstances. While world has become a village thanks to fast development of information technology.
Sheikh Shakeel Ahmad, a leading advocate of the state high court said, as conditions have improved and now it is the duty of the administration to approach the apex court with special leave petition for vocation of ban. He said gifting lifting of ban on SMS has become need of the hours, as worked is, moving fast in all trades.
Harish Kumar, a bank employee said it is very strange that till date authorities remain silent over this issue. He said due to ban on SMS, bank working is also suffering. He urged that immediately ban should be lifted as it is 20th century and world has changed at lot.
Phoola and Sneh both post-graduate teachers in their remarks said today India launched ‘Chanderyan’ to moon, but till date government fails to lift ban on SMS imposed due to agitation on land row. They said SMS has now become essential part of our daily life. Without further wasting time, government should lift ban.
Rasheed (name changed employee of BSNL said, sooner ban should be lifted by the govt, as BSNL authorities have no hesitation starting the SMS service. Beside Aircel and Airtel officials are also keen that the ban he lifted as early as possible.
Munish, a Journalist by profession, said that through SMS we used to get information about day to day coverage, but after the ban was imposed on SMS, it becomes very difficult to get programme of coverages on time. Mobile phones also not get connected easily due to the poor service provided by service providers.
Rita, a college student along with her colleagues said that their mobile phones got disconnected as they don’t get bill in time.
Earlier, they used to know mobile bills through SMS, but now it becomes very difficult to know about the monthly bill.
Now, when the assembly elections are also announced by Election commission it means the law and order situation become normal. So authorities must wake up from deep slumber and to get ban on SMS vacated in the state by filing an application in Supreme Court.
