| Jora reviews post flood situation in Power, Sector takes stock of execution of grid, receiving stations | | | SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 12 – Reviewing the post flood situation in the power sector in south-circle, the Minister for Power Mr. Rigzin Jora at a high level meeting at Anantnag today was told that 160 power sub station were affected in Anantnag-Pulwama districts in the south circle. The Minister was informed that 96 per cent distribution lines which were also affected due to flash floods have been restored within a record period of time. Mr. Jora was informed that the department has collected revenue of Rs. 10 crore from the consumers during last three years. Out of which Rs 4.08 crore have been realized from the security forces including Army, BSF and CRPF. Besides, 1.85 lakh illegal connections were regularized. He was also apprised that at present 22 receiving stations and 3800 distribution sub stations are under execution in the two districts. An amount of Rs. 217 crore are being incurred for upgradation of power supply system in these twin districts. The Minister was also told that installation of metering system in Anantnag-Pulwama districts is in full swing and during last five months of fiscal year 20,000 digital meters have been installed to plug the power pilferage. During the meeting the Minister also reviewed the pace of progress of Mattan and Kulgam grid station which are being executed at a total cost of Rs. 24.75 crore and so far Rs. 18 crore have been utilized on the execution of these projects. The Minister was assured that the construction works of these grid stations would be completed by the end of November this year. Speaking on the occasion the Minister stressed upon the Engineers to speed up the work of installation of Digital meters in these districts, so that uninterrupted power supply would be ensured to the consumers. He also enjoined upon them to redouble their efforts and complete all on going development work within stipulated time frame. He underscored the need to being intense for monitoring of developmental projects and asked for ensuing use of quality material. Mr. Jora urged upon the Engineers to accelerate their efforts and achieve the targets of Revenue collection in full and directed that all the illegal connection be registered immediately. Member Legislative Assembly Mr. Abdul Gafar Sofi, District Development Commissioner Mr. G. A. Peer, Chief Engineer M& RE Mr. Nisar Hussain and Chief Engineer System and Operations Mr. A.R.Guru among others who attend the meeting. Later the Minister inspected the pace of progress of Grid Station 132/33 KVA at Mattan which is under execution at a cost of Rs. 13.50 crore and so far Rs. 9 crore have been incurred on the execution of this grid station. The grid station would provide uninterrupted power supply to about 25000 souls of 100 villages. He directed the concerned officers to complete the execution of this grid station before November this year. Enroute the Minister also inspected 132/33 KVA Grid Station at Awantipora. During the tour a deputation of Mattan area also met the Minister and apprised him about the problem of scarcity of electricity in the area. The Minister assured the deputationists that the matter will be looked into. |
