EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 23: Balbir Singh Manhas a senior politician and advocate intending to contest the forth coming election from Nagrota Constituency has expressed his dissatisfaction over the present set of polling station and urged upon chief electoral officer of state for creation of more polling booths where the numbers of voters in the polling station is more than 1000 in the constituency. As per press release, he said the fresh voting list which has 64 polling station, reveals that no new polling station has been constituted in spite of the fact numbers of voters has increased in the voter list. Out of these 64 polling station, he said 38 polling stations namely Rabta, Keri, Matwar, Sarote, Bamyal, Marhy, Agore A, Ranjan B, Ranjan C, Chuurta Sakhetar-Domail, Seri Kurad B, Jagti A, Jagti B, Nagrota B, Khanpur, Rathore Dhoke A, Katal Batal B, Bain Bajalta, Majeen, Tahara. Kahpota, Kanyala, Jandrah A, Jandrah B, Jakhyari, Saruinsar, Sagoon, Korga, Kothar A, Kothar B, Khanna Chadgal and Sandi has voters in between 1000 to 1500 which means that voting the said polling in said can’t be cent percent simply because the number of voters are more than the fixed time of the polling. He said people of the Nagrota constituency lives in the far-flung areas and voters has to walk a long distance of 2 to 3 km to reach at the polling station. Due to over crowded numbers of voters in these polling stations they have either wait for hours or have to go without casting of their votes. He also said he has also made an request in writing to Chief Electoral Officer J&K for setting up for six new polling booths at village Prade, Dabbar Maira, Under block Bhalwal, Village Pali, Garni under Dansal block and Village Dhoon, Ragoora under Erstwhile block Parmandal but nothing has been done in this regard by the concerned office. |
