AIVF warns agitation against land laws
8/3/2021 11:14:46 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 3: Representatives of All India Vaish Federation (AIVF), Mahajans, Khatris, Sikhs, Aggarwal's and Jains have warned the Union Government and the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory administration that if the law prohibiting purchase of agriculture land by Khatris, Mahajans, Aggarwals, Sikhs, Jains, etc. in this Union territory will not be withdrawn immediately then the people belonging to these communities will come on roads to start a massive agitation against such discriminatory law and rules.
Addressing media persons here today, Rajiv Mahajan (Yuva President AIVF), said that it is really an irony of this newly formed Union Territory that specifically some communities have been deprived of the genuine rights thus resorting to blatant discrimination against them sans any logic.
He said that only a fortnight back we had expressed resentment over the law prohibiting purchase and sale of agricultural land by Khatris, Mahajans, Aggarwals, Sikhs, Jains, etc and demanded its immediate roll back but the government has turned a deaf ear towards this genuine issue.
Referring to the statement of BJP leader Ravinder Raina in which he had asserted that BJP will soon achieve the target set under its Mission 50 plus in J&K Assembly, Mahajan said that BJP President needs to realize the ground situation in view of such discriminatory law enforced by the government.
He claimed that Khatris, Mahajans, Aggarwals, Sikhs, Jains, etc together constitute a substantial section of voters in Jammu region and if the government does not withdraw this law or brings more such laws in the UT, then he assert that BJP which is dreaming of 50 plus will hardly get even five seats in the next Assembly elections.
Mahajan said that a meeting of all the prominent persons of the affected communities was held today whereby the issue was deliberated upon at length and it was resolved that if the government failed to withdraw the aforesaid discriminatory law within fifteen days then a massive agitation will be launched with people belonging to these communities coming on roads for which the Union Govt and the UT administration shall be wholly and solely responsible.
Among others present in the press conference include Varinder Gupta (General Secretary AIVF), Devender Seth (Vishal Khatri Sabha), Atul Aggarwal, Jaswinder Singh (Kuku), Abhinandan Jain, Harpal Singh.
