CUJ organizes series of lectures in memory of Prof Dharmendera Singh

JAMMU, Aug 3: The Department of Mass Communication and New Media (MCNM), Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organised a series of lectures in the memory of Late Prof Dr Dharmendera Singh, HoD of MCMN Deptt, which started from June 29, 2021 and concluded on Monday.
The lectures covered various aspects of Journalism, Media, Communication and Vaccination, and delivered by renowned Professors, Intellectual, Experts of the country.
As per statement issued here, the lecture series spread over a period of six weeks with one lecture being conducted every week starting June 29, 2021 with a lecture on 'Modern Techniques of Research in Media' by Prof Umesh Arya, Dean, Faculty of Media Studies, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Techology, Hisar. Where he highlighing various innovative techniques of research by the students.
The next lecture was delivered on July 06, 2021 by Prof Sapna, M.S, Department of Journalism and Communication, University of Mysore on the topic 'Innovative Practices in Corporate Social Responsibility,' highlighted the need for social cause by the MNCs. This was followed by a very relevant topic on COVID-19 pandemic conducted on July 13, 2021, by Varadarajan Ananthakrishnan, Verification Trainer at DataLEADS on vaccine misinformation, narrative and motives. This lecture removed all the prejudices and doubts about Covid-19 vaccination.
Continuing in the series of memorial lectures, on July 20, 2021, a lecture on Community Radio in India- Voice of the unheard was conducted by Prof Kanchan K Malik, University of Hyderabad amd faculy fellow- UNESCO Chair on community media, bringing out how Community Radio is uniting various remotely located places and also helping in spread of information.
On July 27 2021, a webinar on Digital Advertising for Sustainable Branding in Post Covid Era highlighting how Covid has changed the online advertising world was conducted by Dr. Kulveen Trehen, Senior Faculty School of Mass Communication, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha university, Govt. of NCT Delhi.
The concluding lecture in the series was conducted on Aug 02, 2021 by Dr Biswajit Das, Professor and Founding Director Centre for Culture, Media and Governance, Jamia Malia Islamia University, New Delhi on the topic Communication Studies in India was conducted. Prof Biswajit highlighted the evolution and changing paradigm of Communication studies since the British colonial era till the present times and how communication is affecting every facet of the society and how the masses of India can benefit from this everchanging dynamic aspect of our democratic country.
The priceless wisdom and knowledge spread by eminent Professors during these series of lectures will go a long way in guiding and shaping the future of the students of the Department of MCMN, CUJ.
The students were very aptly guided by Prof Archana Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of MCNM, CUJ and other faculty members. The whole lecture series has been conceptualised and administered by Prof J N Baliya, HoD, MCMN, CUJ.
