| BSP’s erstwhile state chief is NC nominee | | Bhagat challenges Ashwani in Bishnah | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 23: As switchover season begins with the election announcement, the State president of Bahujan Samaj Party until recently, is now the nominee of the National Conference, and of course, first officially announced by the party. The National Conference president Omar Abdullah today specially flew in to Jammu to announce Yash Pal Bhagat as party’s nominee for Bishnah constituency. Bishnah was recently represented by Ashwani Sharma of the Jammu State Morcha who is now being considered by BJP for party ticket. Yash Pal Bhagat’s parent organization, Bahujan Samaj Party which was eyeing a sizeable number of seats in Jammu has reacted quite typically to this development. “We knew it…he was already hobnobbing with National Conference leadership and which is why he was expelled”, said state incharge and national general secretary of BJP Narinder Kashyap. The National Conference has claimed that it got a shot in the arm, when former State president Bahujan Samanj Party along with hundreds of supporters joined the party in the presence of Omar Abdullah. Addressing the press conference, Omar while welcoming his entry into party, said that his presence will strengthen the party and will also yield results in coming elections. He announces his candidature from Bishnah and said that he has worked for down trodden and hope will continue to work for them. |
