| Phase I notification today | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 23: The election process is going to be practically rolled out tomorrow as the Governor will issue notification for ten assembly constituencies spread over four districts going to polls in first phase on November 17. Except BJP and Panthers Party no other party has declared the list of their candidates for any of the constituencies going to polls in first phase. Even BJP and Panthers Party have also released their lists sparingly for two to three seats in all. The border district of Poonch in Jammu region, the newly created Bandipore district in north Kashmir and two Himalayan districts of Leh and Kargil –all having ten constituencies, are going to polls in first phase on November 17, a notification for which was issued this evening. As already announced by the Election Commission, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in exercise of powers vested in him under sub-section (2) of section 27 of Jammu and Kashmir Representation of People's Act 1957 and as recommended by the Election Commission of India will issue Notification for holding of Assembly Elections under phase 1st in 10 constituencies of the state in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made there under. The constituencies spread over Bandipora, Leh, Kargil and Poonch districts are Gurez, Bandipora, Sonawari, Nobra, Leh, Kargil, Zanskar, Surankote, Mendhar and Poonch-Haveli. |
