J&K sad over Mitali Sen’s demise

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: The Jammu and Kashmir government has conveyed the heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Mitali Sen Gavai, IAS Officer of 1984 batch Maharashtra cadre, who passed away recently. She served as Joint Secretary (Kashmir Affairs), Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
In a condolence message, forwarded to Union Home Secretary, Madhukar Gupta, the State Government has recalled Mitali Sen’s immense contribution in accelerating the pace of economic development of the J&K State. She visited the State frequently and worked shoulder to shoulder with the State Administration to carry out the relief and rescue operation in the earthquake hit areas in October 2005 and also during the snow tsunami in 2003. In her death, the State has lost a good friend; the message said and adding that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir places on record its profound grief and sorrow on the demise of Mitali Sen Gavai.
