| Mysterious death of youth triggers massive protest | | |  Early Times Report
KATHUA, Aug 12: Suspecting foul play in the death of a village youth, the inhabitants of village Chann Morian held a protest demonstration blocking Jammu-Pathankot National Highway for two hours, demanding justice for the deceased. Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on highway following the lengthy blockade.
According to reports, on Wednesday evening the dead body of Vicky Verma (32) S/o Som Raj R/o Chann Morian was found near the railway track under mysterious conditions. In a preliminary investigation police realized the death was due to a suicidal attempt and initiated the inquiry. But on Thursday, after postmortem the relatives of the deceased alleged that Vicky has not committed suicide but it was a cold blooded murder.
One of the relative said that few days back Vicky had quarrel with local youths and those are only responsible for his murder as from the injuries one can easily say that it is not train accident or suicide. He alleged that the youths used to harass and abuse him verbally for unknown pretexts. "We demand a thorough probe into the whole episode and immediate arrest of the culprits," he added.
Following reports of Highway blockade SDM Hiranagar Rakesh Kumar, SDPO Sachit Mahajan, SHO Anil Sharma reached on the spot and assured fair inquiry and justice for the deceased. Following which the protesters rolled back the protest. |
