Girls, boys cycling competition held as part of Independence Day special sports week

JAMMU, Aug 12: As part of Independence Day special sports week, Jammu and Kamir sports council in collaboration with the Cycling Association of J&K today organised girls and boys sports cycling competitions for different age categories.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Dr. Koual Kumar arma - Jammu was the chief guest and kick started the competitions from K.K Hakku Stadium Jammu. More than 80 cyclists of different age groups took part in the competition.
The Chief Guest highlighted the need to extend the route of the competitors up to rural areas to encourage the rural youngsters to join the sports field and to give their best. He also appreciated the role of Sports Council and its associates for promotion of sports in the U.T J&K.
The competition was held as part of Independence Day Special Sports Week organised under the care of Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Chief Accounts Officer J&K Sports Council and Aok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu.
Others present on the occasion were Ravinder Singh, President Cycling Association of J&K, Sr. Sarwant Singh- General Secretary cycling association of J&K , Ravi Salgotra, Ajay arma, Tajinder Singh, Om Parka, Dr. Vike arma besides public and ex. Players.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kamir Sports Council hosted a guest lecture by Ajit Singh Nagra, a retired officer of the education department on the ‘value of sports education’.
The speaker highlighted the role of coaching in aping the destiny of the budding players and paid tributes to the legendary sports personalities of the past. He was highly appreciative of the medal winners of the Tokyo Olympic 2020, and said they brought the country into global limelight.
As a part of the 75th Independence Day Special Sports Week, the speaker briefed about the landmarks and the role of the freedom fighter in bringing the dawn of independence. The lecture was attended by the coaches of J&K Sports Council with rapt attention.
He also appreciated the efforts of the Sports Council in providing a congenial atmosphere to the budding players.
Aok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer J&K Sports Council Jammu thanked the Guest for his motivational and knowledgeable lecture.
