| Drunken policeman shot dead his colleague | | |

Kathua, Aug 12: During the late hours of Wednesday night a drunken policeman shot dead his colleague at District Police Lines.
According to reports at around 2250 hrs in barrack of District Police Line Kathua Selection Grade Constable Iqbal Singh R/o Chabbey Chak Hiranagar No 959/K fired some rounds by AK-47, in which Head Constable Mohd Younis No 201/K S/O Ghulam Navi R/o Bharakh Tehsil Pouni Reasi was hit and got seriously injured.
The policemen present on the spot rushed him to GMC Kathua, where the doctors declared him as dead. In this regard, SSP Kathua R C Kotwal told that during the preliminary inquiry it has been found that Iqbal Singh had fired three shots from his gun on Mohd Younis, due to which Younis got martyred. He further said that police had arrested Iqbal Singh and had initiated the further course of action.
On the other hand, on Thursday police handed over the dead body of the Younis to his relatives after postmortem for last rites. |
