GDC Surankote organises patriotic song singing competition

SURANKOTE, Aug 13: The Department of Political Science Govt. Degree College Surankote in collaboration with Department of Physics, Sociology and History organised a state level online patriotic song singing competition.
In the competition participants from different Institutions like GDC Surankote, GDC Poonch, GDC Mendhar, GDC Akhnoor and Raza Ul Uloom Islamia High School Poonch participated. Dr. Naseer Ahmed Kalis, Head, Department of Political Science was the organiser of the event. The program was started with the playing a patriotic song, "Har karam apna Karen ge ae watan tere liye" online. Prof, Sarshad Hussain, Convenor IQAC formally welcomed all the participants. Total 14 students from different institutions participated in the competition. Prof. Sarshad Hussain, Head Department of Zoology, Dr. Khalil Ahmed, Head Department of Urdu and Prof. Waseem ul Haq Head Department of Physics were the jury members. Sartaj Khan (former student of GDC Surankote), Masroor Hussain Kazmi and Maqsood Ahmed from GDC Surankote, bagged 1st position; Sumaira Jabeen & Tahira Jabeen from Govt. Degree College Mendhar secured second position and Mohd Alyas of GDC Surankote secured third position.
Dr. Zakir Hussain Kalis, Head, Department of English, GDC Poonch was also present and appreciated the initiative taken by the college. He also said events like this are very important to promote the ideas like nationalism, patriotism among the young generation. The event was organised under the overall supervision of Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal of the College. Dr. Mussarat Jabeen, Prof. Aafia Zaman, Mr. Shoket Ali, Mr. Maroof Ahmed were also present. In the end, Prof. Waseem Ul Haq, Head Department of Physics extended the vote of thanks to the participants.
