| Trade organisations connected with tourism flays prolonged power cuts | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 25: Various trade organisations connected with tourism and pilgrimage have flayed prolonged power cuts resorted to by the Power Development Department (PDD) is hitting hard business as well as causing a good deal of inconvenience to the citizens, besides affecting the studies of the students. In a joint meeting of Jammu Prayatan Vikas Mandal, Hotels and Lodges Association, Hotel, Bar and Restaurant Association, Jammu Tourist Trade Employees Federation, Hari Market Shopkeepers Association, General Bus Stand Shopkeepers Association, Raghunath Bazar Business Association and Below Gumt Traders held here today under the chairmanship of Inderjeet Khajuria, threatened to come to the streets and ghareo the offices of PDD department, in case normal power supply is not restored within two days. The representatives of the trade organisations also flayed the highly arrogant and rude behaviour of the Chief Engineer PDD, Electric Maintenance and RE Circle, Ashok Gupta who not only refused to give audience to the deputation of the traders who requested him on telephone for meeting, but acting in a arrogant way said that it was his sweet will to give hearing to any deputation or not. Traders have sarcastically described these prolonged power cuts as the first installments of package of compensation and relief given by the Governor to various sections of the people who underwent losses during two and a half month long agitation, due to prolonged curfew and shut downs. The meeting also flayed of high biling to the domestic consumers as well as business establishments for the period when power was almost totally denied during two and a half months in June, July and August in the wake of transformers getting damaged. The others who attended the meeting included Kuldeep Wahi, Mahesh Padha, Ashwani Sharma, Pawan Gupta, Baldev Khullar, Mangal Verma and Baldev Raj. |
