| Congress shortlists probable faces | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 25: The Congress election committee for Jammu and Kashmir headed by PCC President and Union Water Resources Minister Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has finalized list of candidates for all seats of Jammu province. “We have discussed all probable and names of potential candidates for all constituencies have been forwarded to the party high command for clearance”, said a senior Congress leader who attended the meeting chaired by Soz on Friday in Srinagar. Besides probables from Jammu region, the list also includes all names for the seats going to polls in first phase of elections. Barring Gandhi Nagar, RS Pura, Raipur-Domana, Basohli, Bani, Chhamb, Rajouri, Gool-Arnas and Surankote constituencies, the Congress election committee has given names of two to three candidates at each seat. Though the Congress high command is yet to take a final decision, which may be announced by Sunday, the election committee has finalized names of Raman Bhalla, Suman Bhagat, Kanta Andotra, Prem Sagar Aziz, Mula Ram, Ajaz Ahmed Khan, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Choudhary Mohammad Aslam and Jahangir Mir respectively for Gandhi Nagar, RS Pura, Basohli, Bani, Raipur-Domana, Gool-Arnas, Rajouri, Surankote and Poonch-Haveli constituencies respectively. Names of Tara Chand for Chhamb, Sham Sharma for Akhnoor and Jugal Kishore for Reasi have also been finalized by the state election committee of the Congress. Amrit Malhotra and Yogesh Sawhney are in reckoning for Jammu East constituency, Mangat Ram Sharma and Vinod Sharma for Jammu West. Similarly Thakur Hari Singh, Shivdev Singh and Rameshwar Singh are being considered for Nagrota constituency and Shesh Paul and Gulchain Singh Charak for Bishnah constituency. List has names of Prakash Sharma, Vinod Mishra and Rani Bloeria for Vijaypur constituency; BR Kundal and Suman Lata Bhagat for Samba constituency; RS Chib and Choudhary Gharu Ram for Suchetgarh constituency; Master Lal Chand and Babu Singh for Kathua constituency; Tara Chand and Girdhari Lal for Hira Nagar constituency. In Rajouri district, Ravinder Sharma and Dr Ramesh Sharma are considered for Nowshera constituency, again Ravinder Sharma and Ashok Sharma for Kalakote constituency. |
