ISM celebrates Dhanvantri Jayanti with traditional enthusiasm

JAMMU, Oct 26: Birth Anniversary of Lord Dhanvantri, the originator of the ancient Indian hospital Jammu, was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm at a function organized by the all officers/officials of the department of Indian systems of Medicine and staff of government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu.Director ISM Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar was the Chief Guest.
While paying rich tributes to the ‘God of Ancient Science’, Dr Kabir called upon the doctors from Indian systems of Medicine (ISM) to strictly adhere to his method so that people of the state could get the benefits of this ancient science so called the Indian Medicine Science.
Stressing on the exclusiveness of each system of medicine, he said need of the hour was to improve health care delivery through ISM to most vulnerable segment of the population.
Giving resume of activities of the department director ISM Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar said that at present one full fledged hospital and 425 Ayurvedic Dispensaries are providing medical facilities to the people of the state. He said the recently department has completed the execution of Ayurvedic Pharmacy complex at Jammu costing of Rs. one crore while construction work of drug testing laboratory at Jammu is nearing completion at the cost Rs one crore.
The department is also conducting re-orientation training program for the Medical Officers and Para Medical Staff of the ISM department. A four week training program in different system like yoga, Panchkarama, Kyar Sutra was carried out successfully in the Ayurvedic Hospital complex Jammu as well as in Srinagar. The cheques as incentive of training were also distributed among the trainee during the function.
He said that recently ISM has started its unit in Government Medical College Srinagar and a similar unit will be opened in Government Medical College Jammu soon adding that necessary funds in this regard have been received by the department.
Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar arrived here from Srinagar specially to attend the Dhanvantri Jayanti celebration at Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu.
“The full fledged yoga Center will become functional in Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu very soon”, he said adding that the expansion of the department is on cards.
Meanwhile, All J&K Ayurvedic Congress too celebrated Dhanwantri Jayanti today at Jammu Club. Advisor to Governor, Dr. SS Baloria was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion he emphasized the professionals to be dedicated and sincere in their respective duties. He also appreciated the efforts AJKAC for their contribution for popularizing Ayurveda among people.
