| Natrang stages Hind comedy play ‘Poorav Aur Pashim’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 26: Two new Hindi comedy plays launched by Natrang in its weekly series ‘Sunday Theatre’ directed by Balwant Thakur were staged here today. The first play ‘Poorav Aur Pashim’ is written by famous film comedian I.S. Johar and the second play ‘Chaska Chori Ka’ written by Hari Mehta. The play Poorav Aur Pashim portrays the contrast between the beliefs of East and West. Set at a traditional Indian family which believes in the stars, horoscopes and tantras, the head of the family Lala Ram Bharose wants to start a highly profitable business. He approaches a horoscope expert who horrifies him about his future and tells him lot about his unfavourable stars. He is advised to strictly to obey certain do’s and don’ts in life but the successive happenings in the family go against him. I.S Johar being a legend of the comedy has created such funny situations in the play that it forces everyone to laugh. The other play ‘Chaska Chori Ka’ revolves around the story of a small time modern young thief who despite pledging not to do this mischief cannot control to do so. Woven through comical acts the play unfolds series of incidents where this compulsive young man looses his repute, faces police harassment for his uncontrolled habit of stealing things. Through and through he claims that when big thieves can become the leaders of the nation why can’t he lead a respectable life pursuing this profession. But a transformation comes in him when he looses his love in an attempt to cheat her by portraying himself as an accomplished poet and singer and foolishly recites the poetry and compositions of others claiming as his original creations. |
