JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 12 - Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar today celebrated Teachers-Cum-Foundation Day. Principal of the College Prof. Veena Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The programme was started with the lightening the traditional lamp by the Principal and ex-Principals of the college. In her welcome address, Prof. Gupta highlighted the role of teachers in building a nation and laid stress that the teachers need to build a personal touch with the students in order to strengthen the relationship between the two. She informed that the college was established in September 1969. She said that said that teacher is like a candle who dispels the darkness from student’s life. The students and teachers of the college presented Guru Bandana, Punjabi, Dogri and Skits which were highly applauded by the jam-packed audience. On the occasion, Prof. Gupta also distributed mementos among the retired Principles and staff members of the college who were the special guests which include Prof. Kailash Rajput, Prof. Kausam Sharma, Prof. Reeta Munshi, Prof. Gurdeep Kour, Prof. S. C. Sharma, Prof. Ved Paul Gupta, Prof. Anmol Singh, Prof. Baisakhi Ram, Prof. Subash Vedi, Prof. Satwant Kour, Prof. Chander Ram Paul, Prof. Sawarn Rampaul, Prof. Shanta Verma, Prof. Shanta Wattal, Prof. Shakuntla Sharma. |
