| Nowshera college imitates Nagar Keertan | | | EARLY TIMESR REPORT NOWSHERA, Oct 26: Nowshera Degree college took lead in trendsetting the tradition of starting Nagar Keertan in the city to commemorate the 300th year of the Guru Granth Sahib. As per press release of the college, the procession started from the Campus of the Govt Degree college Nowshera that comprised of both girls and boys students of the Higher Secondary school and the NCC cadets. On reaching the Gurudwara in the city, it was joined by Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee office bearers, panj pyare and devotees in large number comprising of people from all faiths and walks of life. The procession passed through various bazaars of the city and was marked by colourful display of Gatka nd other Sikh martial arts. During the procession, the girls and boys in different groups chanted Guru Ki baani (religious hymns). During the procession prominent person of Nowshera including SGPC Chairman District Rajouri Sardar Raghuvir Singh, SGPC General Secrtary Distt. Rajouri Sardar Mohinder Singh, Former president SGPC Sardar Shakti Pal Singh, Former President Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Ved Prakash Gupta, Rakesh Chowdhary, Surinder Chowdhary and the principal of the Degree College Nowshera Nutan Kumar addressed the procession in the main chowk. The SGPC also honoured the principal of the College Nutan Kumar by presenting Saropa for having initiated the tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood among the college children. |
