| Last chance to 6 cricketers! | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 29: Acting on the recommendations made by penal of selectors, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has provided last chance to as many as six cricketers, who are representing the state since a decade or more. Since the age of these cricketers, as per JKCA, not favouring them and their overall performance since last five years, so what they did cannot be termed as extra ordinary. It was unanimously decided to give them (cricketers) last chance to represent the state in first two matches of the forthcoming Ranji season, a handout issued by JKCA here today said. These six cricketers are Kanwaljit Singh, Arshid Bhat, Vijay Sharma, Irshad Hussain, Fayaz Hazari and Majid Dar. “It has also been decided to replace these senior cricketers with those performing well in the ongoing Col. C K Naydu under-22 cricket tournament for remaining three matches,” a signed statement JKCA president, Dr Farooq Abdullah mentioned. To satisfying the protesting cricketers over inclusion of Ian Dev Singh in the probable list for final selection, the JKCA statement said, “Inclusion of stand-by player, Ian Dev Singh will be subject to his presence in selection trials conducted by the JKCA. If selected, Ian will be considered for last three matches. The decision was taken after the Ian failed to turn up for selection trials held at Jammu when probable for Jammu were selected.” Furthermore, the JKCA mentioned that, “Continuation of Mohsin Iqbal in the team will be subject to his performance in the match he plays in the first or second test.” |
