| JK Bank launches plantation drive | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 29: J&K Bank has launched a plantation drive in Jammu today in line with its corporate social responsibility. Dr. Haseeb A Drabu Chairman and Chief Executive of the Bank planted a sapling of Lakshmi Taru (Simarouba glauca DC) in the walkway on Akhnoor Road which is developed and maintained by the Bank. About 700 saplings of different varieties having medicinal as well as ornamental value are proposed to be planted during this drive. The main varieties are Aomla, Arjun, Harad, Behra, Laxmi Taru, Kadamb, Alestomia, Bouganvillia, Hibiscus, Chameli, Ferucaria and Arucaria. The saplings were also planted by Bank's Executive Director, Mr. A. K. Mehta, Director on the Board Mr. B. L.Dogra , Mr. K. K. Sharma, President , and Vice President Jammu(Central) Mr. Madan Gupta. Kavinder Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation was also present on the occasion along with the local Corporator Mr. Balwant Kumar(Ballu) and hundreds of members of morning walkers association. Mr. Kavinder Gupta also planted a sapling of Lakshmi Taru in the walkway on this occasion While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Drabu advised morning walkers especially the young children to adopt few trees and ensure that these grow properly to provide good, clean and green environment all around. At the request of morning walkers, Dr. Drabu agreed to provide one ATM in the walkway itself. Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Mr. Kavinder Gupta promised to construct two Sulab shochalyas in the walkway for the benefit of morning walkers. Morning walkers appreciated the efforts made by bank and role played by Dr. Drabu in having provided a more beautiful walkway to people of Jammu. |
