| Army revitalizes Zorawar Fort in Leh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | SEPT 12 Wazir Zorawar Singh, a great general of Maharaja, Gulab Singh considered to be a military genius and a master of mountain warfare Ladakh six times between 1834 and 1841 and extended the boundaries of India, to its natural frontiers in the North. When India become independent, Ladakh and Baltistan became a part of the Republic of India. Thus, the credit for putting both Ladakh and Baltistan on the map of India goes to General Zorawar Singh. Ina n effort towards maintaining structures of heritage and historical importance, the revitalisation of the Zorwar Fort has been undertaken by the Army Leh. The restoration of the heritage building, creation of a Museum and Sound & Light show has been a pioneering venture and a humble beginning made by the Indian Army to showcase the history of Ladakh. The Museum and Sound & Light show at Zorawar Fort which will be soon opened for viewing by the general public and terrorists was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. Deepak Kapoor, General Officer Commanding in Chief Northern Command on 11 Sep in the presence of a large gathering.
