| Rape victim makes life bid, critical | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
BISHNAH, Oct 29: In a spine chilling incident a rape victim made bid on her life by setting herself ablaze.
Shanti (name changed) was admitted in the Government Medical College here with almost hundred per cent burn injured and little scope of survival.
Sources said Shanti Devi a resident of village Harsha Dhabad under the jurisdiction of Bishnah police station burnt herself and she was taken to Bishnah hospital from where sensing her condition critical she was referred to Government Medical College hospital where her condition is stated to be critical.
In her police statement Shanti said that her neighbour identified as Shamshar Singh son of Bachiter Singh barged into her house when her husband was on work and raped her besides looting her jewellery. The matter was brought into the notice of her husband who along with her reached the house of the accused but the family members in spite of listening them used vulgar language for the victim and she in a fit of emotions sprinkled kerosene oil on her and set her on fire. Bishnah police after registering case under section 776,452,382,109 and 326 RPC has arrested the accused. |
