5 dead in Doda mishap
24 injured, 9 critical

JAMMU, Oct 30: In yet another tragic road accident in Doda district, at least 6 passengers have died and over two dozens other injured when a passenger bus skidded off the road after a tyre burst and rolled down a gorge. The incident happened on Doda-Kishtwar road when the ill fated vehicle was on its way from Thathri to Doda.
Reports said a local Matador bearing registration number 6449/JK02AD was on its way to Doda from Thathri when it skidded off the road and rolled down in river Chenab near Gardsu near Pull Doda resulting in on the spot death of five passengers and injuries to twenty four others.
On receipt of the information police rushed the spot and retrieved the bodies of those dead and injured. The injured were shifted to Doda district Hospital while nine critically injured were Air lifted to Jammu for their advanced treatment in the Government Medical College here.
A government spokesman said that the Deputy Commissioner, Doda, Syed Sharif-ud-Din monitored the rescue and relief operations on spot as well as at the District Hospital Doda.
Meanwhile, a cash relief of Rs. 5000 in favour of next of kin of each deceased, Rs. 2000 in respect of each seriously injured and Rs.1000 to those with minor injuries has been sanctioned and paid by the Deputy Commissioner, Doda out of Red Cross.
Deceased have been identified as Santosh Kumar son of Ran Raj of Shiva Doda , Farooq Ahmed son of Nasrullah resident of Keshwan Kishtwar , Rakesh Kumar son of Jameet Ram of Bheja Gandoh, Nageena Begum wife of Bashir Ahmed resident of Dool Kishtwar and the identification of the fifth one has not been ascertained so far .
While as the nine critically wounded persons after giving the first Aid have been Air lifted to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment.
The injured who were admitted in SDH Doda have been identified as Anaytullah son of Gh. Mohd Mir r/o Keshwan Kishtwar (2) Abdullah son of Noor Din r/o Thakrie (3) Bharat Bhushan son of Krishan Lal r/o Zena Kishtwar (4) Mussa s/o Mir Hussain r/o Kurna Keshwan (5) Mir Hussain son of Fajura r/o Kurna Keshwan (6) Gh. Hussain son of Noor Din r/o Thakria (8) Kareem son of Noor Din r/o Keshwan (9) Maninder Singh son of Puran Chand r/o Champal Gandoh (10) Manzoor Ahmed son of Gh. Mohd r/o Keshwan (11) Des Raj son of Jameet Ram r/o Bheja Gandoh (12) Iftikar Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed (13) Ikhlaq Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed both residents of Dool Kishtwar (14) Aslam son of Abdullah r/o Indloo Gandoh (15) Bansi Lal son of Dhera r/o Champal Gandoh .
While nine critically injured who have been shifted to Jammu Medical College have been identified as (1) Ab.Jabbar s/o Mohd Maqbool r/o Malwan (2) Mohd Yousaf s/o Lal Din r/o Kurra (3) Krishan Chand s/o Sarnoo r/o Jodhpur Doda his wife (4) Vimla Devi (5) Ab.Jabar s/o Gh.Mohd r/o Gurmul his wife (6) Saleema (7) Mahu-u-Din Bhat s/o Akbar Bhat r/o Malhota (8) Arvind Kumar s/o Narayan Dutt r/o Hatta Kishtwar and (9) Mohd Yousf s/o Taj Din r/o Kuroo Kishtwar.


Meanwhile, one youth namely Mohan Lal (35 yrs) son of Assa Ram resident of Raya Saiot was hit by a Matador (JK02AC/4323) and died on the spot at Rah Saliot today.
The body was shifted to Sunder Bani Hospital for other legal formalities.
In another road accident at least forty persons injured when a bus turned turtle near Akhnoor
The bus bearing registration number JK02F,8147 was going to Amberiya from Khour when on the way its front tyre fall into a dig and the bus turn turtle. Soon after the accident a police team led by SSP Jammu,Manohar Singh and SDPO of the area PP Singh reached on the spot and took the injured to Akhnoor hospital.Eight persons have been shifted to GMC hospital.
