Shanta Kumar said that BJP would field candidates to ensure people's mandate. In the backdrop of recent stir in Jammu for its "rights", BJP is all set to capitalise on the sentiments in the coming Assembly polls as it has decided to focus its campaign on securing "political empowerment" of the region. "The party would contest the polls with a call for more political power for Jammu region and adequate say for the people of the region in the state's affairs," party General Secretary Arun Jaitley said in New Delhi. Jaitley, who is also the party's election incharge for the state, said the campaign would focus on the demand for proportional expenditure of funds among the three regions -- Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh -- in the state. "It is about justice, and it is about use of state exchequer in a justifiable way so that Jammu gets its due share. Our campaign would be against the Srinagar-centric administration in the state," he said. Buoyed by the Amarnath land agitation steered by the Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti, the saffron party is slated to rake up the issue in the ensuing elections. |
