SKUAST-J organizes day long webinar

JAMMU, Sept 11: Sher -e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu Vet Alumni (SVAJ) organized a day long webinar cum SKUAST-J Vet alumni website launch today the online mode. Chief guest of the event was Prof J P Sharma Vice Chancellor SKUAST-J and SKUAST-K.
Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary of Tribal Affairs Department and Chief Executive Officer, J&K Mission Youth, Mission Director, Skill Development Mission, Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Shashank Sinha National sales Director Drools Petfood Pvt. Ltd,Sonika Puttoo Quality Assurance/ Technical Head Swani Spice Mills Pvt. Ltd were invited speakers.
The topic of the webinar was opportunities for young vets. The event was attended by Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, LT col Mayur Vashney, Dr Ranjeet Singh Kotwal, Dr Peerzada Farhat, IFS officers, scientists, veterinary officers, JKAS officer, JKPS officers and students of SKUAST-J.
Speaking at the launch function, Prof J. P. Sharma Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-K mentioned that with nearly 1500 alumni of this institution it is a privilege to have such students who now hold positions in all prestigious offices like Indian Administrative Services, Indian Forest Services, JK Administrative services, JK police services. Keep university informed of your accomplishments and milestones, it can inspire the lives of students today who are destined to be the leaders of tomorrow, he said.
Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary (President SKUAST-J Vet Alumni) also spoke on the occasion mentioning the opportunities for veterinarians in Jammu and Kashmir. He informed veterinarians of various government schemes under mission youth and how to get benefit of these schemes. He mentioned how many individuals with aid from government schemes under mission youth, tribal affairs and skill development have been successful in their enterprises.
Dr. M. S. Bhadwal, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, R.S.Pura formally welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of this website. He said that the main objectives of the alumni associations are to promote close relations between the university and its alumni, promote the interest of the alumni in the affairs of the university, ensure that programmes are initiated and developed for the benefit of the alumni and the university, and to assist the university in its development and pursuit of academic excellence.
Dr. Shashank Sinha spoke about the opportunities for young vets in the field of animal food industry. He also spoke about different fields where the veterinarians can have the job opportunities. He spoke about the opportunities for young vets in the field of animal food industry.
Dr. Sonika Puttoo spoke about the vet’s role in food industry. She mentioned how vets are excelling in various food and spice industry. She urged vets to come forward and look for opportunities in private sector rather than looking for government jobs only. She also spoke about different fields where the veterinarians can have the job opportunities and also become an entrepreneur.
