EARLY TIMES REPORT

RS PURA, Sept 11: DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony met the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in Jammu and discussed various issues and problems related to the people residing in the border areas of Jammu district.
He also submitted a charter of demands, besides seeking restoration of statehood to J&K and holiday on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh falling on September 23.
In a memorandum handed over to the Union Agriculture Minister, the DDC member sought restoration of Statehood at the earliest before holding elections in the Jammu and Kashmir.
He also demanded special recruitment dove in J&K Police, Para Military Forces, and Indian Army/Air Force. There should be no bar of income for issuing EWS certificates / IB certificates as should be on the same analogy as that of SC/ST certificates, he said.
“Ownership rights should be given to Custodian land occupants, re-development of Ranbir canal, upgradation and augmentation of electricity infrastructure in the zero line villages, 50 per cent subsidy in electricity bills to farmers, sanction of PMAY cases pending for the last three years, stern action against land grabbers and government officials for encroaching grave yard in RS pura, expedite SRO-43 cases, upgrade RS Pura Sub Division to district level; Upgrade RS Pura Hospital to District Hospital; declare holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh; enacted laws against farmers may kindly be repealed at the earliest, etc.,” he demanded.
The Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar after listening patiently to the DDC member Tony said that he is already aware of the agriculture sector in the border areas of Jammu having been adversely affected by the cross border tensions besides the fencing in the areas which was inevitable from the security point of view.
However, Tomar assured to find a viable solution to this genuine problem of farmers’ community of the border areas in Jammu region.
