Court rejects bail plea of online fraudster

JAMMU, Sept 13: Excise Magistrate Jammu Umesh Sharma today rejected the bail application of Parmodh Devgan, who is kingpin of online fraudster and cyber scam.
While rejecting the bail application, Excise Magistrate Jammu Umesh Sharma after hearing Adv Yogeshwar Sharma for the applicant whereas APP Yogesh Bamba for the UT observed that accused is the kingpin of online fraudsters. The applicant/accused, in league with few other persons who are yet to be nabbed by the police, on the assurance of allotting petrol pump in favour of the complainant of the case hatched a criminal conspiracy and approached the complainant and also sent emails to him from email id : support (iflpctrol pumpchavanweh.com by impersonating as representatives of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and with fraudulent intention lured/motivated the complainant namely Nisar Ahmed to transfer an amount of Rs 19,02,000 in different accounst numbers maintained in different Banks in the name of accused/applicant as well as in the name of the offence, the nature and gravity of circumstances in which the offence is committed, the reasonable apprehension of witness being influenced.
Court further observed that the accused has committed heinous offences against society and the said offences are required to be dealt with strong hands in order to discourage such antisocial activities. With these observations, the Court rejected the bail application. —JNF
