Police arrest fraudster, entire amount of Rs 7 lakh recovered

JAMMU, Sept 13: Akhnoor police has arrested a fraudster and recovered the entire amount of Rs 7 lakh from him which he had withdrawn from the bank account of the complainant by forging his signature.
On 21.08.2021 a written complaint was lodged by one Puran Chand S/o Paras Ram R/o Village Kapai Di Ban Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu in P/S Akhnoor alleging that the complainant is an account holder of SBI Akhnoor and on 17.08.2021, when the complainant visited bank for making entry in his passbook, he came to know that an amount of Rs 7 lakh has been transferred from his account to other unknown bank accounts fraudulently by forging his signatures. On receipt of this complaint a formal case bearing FIR No. 211/2021 U/s 420/467/468/471/120-B was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and the investigation of the case was set into motion by a team under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial which was headed by SHO Akhnoor Hilal Azar and was assisted by PSI Baljeet Singh.
A/c statements of complaint was obtained and after scrutiny it was found that an amount of Rs 7 lakh has been transferred from his accounts to some other accounts of Hyderabad and thereafter the amount has been further transferred to some other accounts. The money trail of transferred amount was followed and all the involved accounts were got freezed. The original cheques through which the said amount has been transferred were also seized besides the CCTV footage of SBI Akhnoor was also obtained.
During further course of investigation and one person namely Suresh Kumar S/o Ram Krishan R/o Kapai Da Ban Akhnoor Jammu picked up and interrogated thoroughly and during sustained interrogation said person accepted that he had stolen the cheques from the custody of complainant and thereafter by forging complainant's signatures transferred an amount of Rs 7 lakhsto other account holders known to him. The entire amount of Rs 7 lakhs have been recovered and the accused has been arrested in the instant case.
Further investigation is going on and role of other associated persons is being scrutinized. The arrest and seizure was made under the overall guidance of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
