                    | Start double lane work on Lakhanpur-Mahanpur-Basohli road: Col Mahan |   |   |   Early Times Report KATHUA, Sept 13: DDC Chairman Kathua Col Mahan Singh (Retd) today urged the government to start the work on double laning of Lakhanpur-Mahanpur-Basohli road as the same will prove to be a game changer for the hilly region of the Kathua District, especially Bani-Basohli- Mahanpur areas. In a statement issued here, Col Mahan said that double-laning of the road is long pending demand of the people as it will improve significantly the socio-economic condition of the hilly areas of the district. He said that Union Minister Shri  Nitin Gadkari had announced the double-laning of Lakhanpur-Mahanpur- Basohli road after inaugurating Nashri Tunnel in 2017 and the same has been approved in principal as national highway by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways as the proposed road will link Atal Setu with -  NH1A at Lakhanpur, Dhar Road upto  Udhampur, Dalhousie Road upto Chamba/ Pathankot and Basohli-Bani-Badherwah Defence Road. The DDC Chairman said that DPR from Lakhanpur-Mahanpur- Basohli has been prepared by M/s Rodiac Consultants Pvt. Limited for a length of 68.983 Kms amounting to Rs. 606.08 Crores and presently lying with Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, New Delhi for sanction. He said that the project will provide all weather road connectivity, shorten the distance/travel time besides helping to exploit tourist potential of Bani, Basohli, Billawar region. |
