KISHTWAR, Sept 13: The status of projects and schemes across all sectors/departments were today reviewed by District Development Council Kishtwar in a meeting of the DDC members and concerned District Officers.
The meeting was chaired by DDC Chairperson, Pooja Thakur and attended by DDC members District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ashok Sharma, ADDC/CEO District Development Council Sham Lal; Joint Director Planning Mohammad Iqbal, Assistant Commissioner Development Kishore Singh Katoch; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Zakir Hussain; Chief Medical Officer Dr R S Manhas; Chief Education Officer Rashpal Singh Chauhan; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Mayan ud Din, BDOs, Xen PWD, PMGSY besides officers and officials from PDD,PHE Department attended the meeting.
During the meeting, ADDC/CEO District Development Council Sham Lal apprised the chair about the status of various ongoing and upcoming projects of R&B, PMGSY, PHE, PDD and other Departments undertaken in the Area Development Plan, District Capex, NABARD and Central Scehmes. The progress on the various ongoing iconic projects was also reviewed in the meeting.
The CEO DDC also briefed the Council about 73rd Amendment of the Panchayati Raj Act, besides briefed about the 29 subjects to be dealt by DDC members as mandated by Panchayati Raj Act.
The Chairperson DDC emphasised on timely completion of all projects and early resolution of bottlenecks, if any, so that benefits of developmental projects accrue to the public.
DDC Kishtwar stressed all the District and sectoral officers to work in tandem with the PRI members in the redressal of the public grievances.
He observed that collective and responsible behaviour of administration and PRIs is imperative for ushering into the new era of development.
The District Development Commissioner directed all Departments to share the list of ongoing and upcoming projects to be taken up during the FY 2021-22 with the DDC within a week and also furnish month wise progress reports with the Council to facilitate effective monitoring at grassroots level.
It was also reiterated that DDC members & other public representatives be taken on board both during planning as well as the implementation phase of the projects for better outcomes.
During the meeting the DDC members projected scores of issues pertaining to their respective constituencies.
The main among them included removal of land encroachments, repair and maintenance of power distribution network in the snow bound areas, maintenance and up-gradation of roads, augmentation of health infrastructure in rural areas, inclusion of eligible beneficiaries under Awas-plus etc.
Many of the issues were redressed on the spot while rest were forwarded to the concerned departments for redressal on priority basis.
Referring to the issues/grievances raised by the DDC members in previous meeting, the DDC sought the submission of the Action Taken Report on these grievances to the office of CEO District Development Council within two days.
The Chairperson DDC emphasised on the district officers to adopt a proactive approach in the resolution of public grievances.
