Dilapidated condition of National Highway bounds youth to stage protest

KATHUA, Sept 13: Irked over dilapidated condition of National Highway, the activists of youth Congress staged protest demonstration against National Highway Authority at Chadwal under the leadership of District Youth Congress President Romi Sharma.
Romi Sharma alleging National Highway Authority responsible for the damaged National Highway said that at various locations from Lakhanpur to Jammu one can experience dozens of potholes, which often leads to accidents. He giving reference of pothole at Chadwal National Highway said that now it has turned up in a big pit where vehicles keep on colliding every day for three to four times a day.
"Last night a passenger vehicle too met an accident on which many people got injured," he irked adding that despite repeated requests to NHA didn't bother as if they are waiting for a major tragedy.
Romi Sharma further said that from Jammu to Kathua hundreds of such potholes can be seen on the National Highway and during rain these potholes often turns into water pools enhancing hardships of commuters.
Sharma also alleged that NHA had set up two toll collection centers from Lakhanpur to Jammu but do not bother to provide facility of safe travelling. The protesters raising alarm warned of intensifying the protest if NHA fails to repair potholes emerged at National Highway.
Billawar Assembly Youth Congress General Secretary Santi Verma, Assembly General Secretary Deepak Sharma, General Secretary Sanjeev Sharma, Rajeev Sharma, participated in the demonstration. Ajay Sharma, Devidayal Sharma, Shivam Sharma, Yash Paul Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, and others were among the protesters.
