GCET Jammu celebrates Engineers Day, organizes poster making competition

JAMMU, Sept 15: The NSS unit of Government College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Jammu today organized an online Poster making competition to celebrate "National Engineers Day 2021" under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav- Celebration of India's 75 years of Independence. The event held under the patronage of college Principal Dr Sameru Sharma. In her message, she said that this day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratan Sir Moksha Gundam Visvesvaraya, as a tribute to one of the greatest engineers of the country for his outstanding contribution to society. The COVID-19 pandemic derailed the best-laid plans and yet, the response from the engineering community has been remarkable. She congratulated all students and teachers on Engineers' Day and appreciated their paramount role in the development of our nation. The theme of the poster competition was "Role of Engineers During COVID-19 Pandemic". A total number of 45 participants from different engineering colleges of J&K UT participated in the event with great enthusiasm and zeal. They beautifully presented their ideas regarding engineers' role in this tough COVID- 19 situation through their posters. The event was organized by NSS volunteers Sakshi Bhat, Mandeep Singh, Mohd Sami, Jaanvi Sharma and Rohit Majotra under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer, Dr Raman Gupta. He applauded and congratulated all the NSS volunteers for organizing such kind of event. All the participants will get e-certificates for participation.
