| Keep city clean on Hajj eve: Pandey | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 31: While reviewing the arrangements for Haj pilgrims at a meeting here today, the Divisional Commissioner, Sudhanshu Pandey asked the JMC to carry out special cleanliness drive before the arrival of Hajj pilgrims on November 11. He also directed the traffic department to pre-designate the routes for SRTC buses ferrying passengers from Rajouri, Poonch and other areas so that city roads are not congested. Pandey suggested setting up of a meeting room within the Hajj House for the pilgrims to interact with their relatives. Besides, he said that arrangements should be made for imparting instructions to pilgrims, internet and STD facilities. During the meeting, it was apprised that arrangements for the stay of 1195 Hajj pilgrims from different districts of Jammu province have been made at the newly constructed Hajj House at Rail Head, Jammu. The overall management and supervision of pilgrims during their stay in Jammu would be with Deputy Commissioner, Jammu while the arrangements for lighting, drinking water and health would be looked by concerned departments. Speaking on the occasion IGP Jammu said that 25-30 volunteers would be deputed for taking care of loading and unloading of baggage and providing security to the Hajjis. |
