| AFWWA week celebrations at Air force station | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 31: Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Local), Air Force Station Jammu celebrated AFWWA Week to commemorate AFWWA Day which is celebrated all over by the Indian Air Force. Wives of all personnel of the station participated in the celebrations with full enthusiasm. The celebrations began with visit of President AFWWA (L), Anupama Prakash, to Ved Ashram (orphanage), Ambphala where she donated clothes and other items of routine value to the children of the orphanage. Various fun-filled activities like Mini Marathon and games, Fancy dress competition, Pooja Thali decoration, Sweet making, Healthy-Baby show and movie show were organized for the ladies. Lectures and seminars were also organized on women related issues like “Importance of Adult Literacy” and “Matrimonial Disharmony”. President AFWWA (L) gave away prizes to all the winners and appreciation letters for outstanding work done. In her closing address, she congratulated the prize winners and appreciated the whole hearted participation of the ladies in all activities and thanked them for making the celebrations a grand success. She emphasized upon the need for women to understand their rights in order to play an active role in formation of a better society. She pointed out that providing education and equal opportunities to the girl child is an important step towards empowerment of women. |
