| 13 injured in Baramulla blast | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT BARAMULLA, Oct 31: At least thirteen security personnel, including six policemen, were wounded when suspected militants hurled a riffle grenade inside a heavily guarded police station in North Kashmir Baramulla town on Friday afternoon. The police sources said suspected militants fired a rifle grenade inside the premises of police station when many top officials of police were holding meeting with public representatives of the town to resort normalcy in the Baramulla which witnessed violent protest from last couple weeks resulting into fresh killing of a college student, in which thirteen cops and CRPF troopers were injured. "All the injured, including seven CRPF troopers and six cops, were evacuated to district hospital Baramulla for treatment. Two of the injured are in serious condition and one has been referred to SMHS Srinagar for treatment," said Station House Officer (SHO) Baramulla Mohammad Yousf. He said that the top police and CRPF officials including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla Anand Jain were present in the police station when the explosion took place. Police sources identified the injured as head constable Sonaullah ,constable Mohd Shafi, Pretam Singh, Khadim Hussain, Daleep Singh of IRP 7th, Fayaz Ahmad 1021/B, Inspector Bagmal ,Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar , head constable Subash Chander, constable Sevanand, Devinder Yadav, Kamlesh Kumar and Prashant of 92 CRPF. It may be recalled that this is the first militant attack in Kashmir after the announcement of the seven-phased state assembly polls commencing from November 17. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. |
