DC Reasi sanctions Rs 20 lakh in favour of 50 beneficiaries under Marriage Assistance Scheme

REASI, Sept 21: Consequent upon the approval accorded by the District Level Committee, District Development Commissioner, Reasi Charandeep Singh today sanctioned Rs 20 lakh in favour of 50 eligible beneficiaries under the Marriage Assistance Scheme (MAS) of Jammu and Kashmir Government.
UTMAS is a Social Assistance Scheme meant for providing marriage assistance to girls of BPL families who may not find themselves in a position to marry due to financial constraints. Widening its endeavor to reach out to the poor section of society to take the benefits, the government under this scheme is lending a helping hand to the poor families who couldn’t afford to marry their daughters. Under this scheme an unmarried girl above 18 years of age belonging to BPL family will receive Rs 25,000 cash assistance and cost of 5 grams of gold at the time of her marriage.
The amount of assistance will be remitted directly into the bank accounts of individual beneficiaries by the Director Finance, Social Welfare Department, Civil Secretariat, Jammu.
