9/24/2021 10:34:36 PM

EARly Times Report

UDHAMPUR, Sept 24: To commemorate National Service Scheme (NSS) Day -2021, the NSS unit of Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur today organized a colourful cultural programme in the college premises.
The cultural programme was organized as a part of five day activities being held from September 20, 2021 to September 24, 2021, under the overall supervision of NSS officer, Prof. Sumita Rao and Dr. Sanjay Tripathi.
College Principal, Prof. Minu Mahajan was the chief guest on the occasion.
Prof. Minu Mahajan congratulated NSS Programme officers and the volunteers for organising the program and said that such events help in developing the overall personality of the students and helps in imbibing the real sense of the education. She also stressed upon the very idea of conducting such programmes i.e., care of the other present in the society through community engagement.
The function featured cultural items by NSS volunteers (only vaccinated students were invited to the campus). The whole programme was compared by Radhika Sharma and Manmeet Kour.
Earlier, Dr. Sanjay Tripathi delivered a formal welcome address. He gave a brief resume of the activities being carried out by the NSS unit from time to time, especially the celebration of NSS Day-2021.
Meanwhile, the NSS unit of the college presented the Principal a plant ready to be planted, which is in itself a new practice in the institution i.e., presenting a plant instead of flowers.
The five day programme witnessed a massive cleanliness drive on the college campus on 23 September and a wall painting competition among the student teams from September 20 to September 22 2021.
Dr. Anita Sharma, Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma and Prof. Tania Mahajan were the jury members for the wall painting competition. Amongst the teams, Sehar Shakeel- Sanjna Thakur bagged first position.
The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Sumita Rao and Prof. Sanjay Kumar.
Among others present were HOD Chemistry Prof Kewel Kumar; HOD Music, Dr. Seema Sharma; HOD Zoology, Prof. Sumita Rao; HOD Botany Prof. Ashni; HOD Mathematics Prof. Ashok Kumar; HOD Geography Prof. Pooja Bharti and other senior faculty members, non-teaching staff and students.
