Opens 100 Accounts of Girl Child under Sukanya Yojana with help of volunteers

JAMMU, Sept 25: Senior BJP leader and former Minister Priya Sethi on Saturday asserted that families should go for Sukanya Yojna to secure the future of the girl child as BJP Government has taken due care while designing this scheme to help families to educate and marry their daughters without any hassle or difficulty. Priya said this after opening 100 accounts under Sukanya Yojana with the help of volunteers. The day marked the birth anniversary of Pt Deen Dayal Upadhayaya. Paying glowing tributes to Panditji, Priya said he was an epitome of simplicity and his contribution in the development of the country especially welfare of poor is remarkable and will always be remembered. Speaking on the occasion., Priya Sethi said "Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign with the main aim of securing the future of a girl child. Sukanya Samridhi Account' can be opened at any time from the birth of a girl child till she attains the age of 10 years, with a minimum deposit of Rs 1000." The senior BJP leader said that the Sukanya Scheme aims at tackling a major problem associated with the girl child viz education and marriage. "The scheme focuses on securing a bright future for the girl child by facilitating the parents of a girl child in building a fund for the proper education and a carefree marriage support of their child," she said adding that people should come forward and avail the benefit of this scheme which is envisaged to educate and settle daughters of the nation great ease. It is pertinent to mention that Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign with the message 'Save girls, educate the girl child', is a national initiative jointly run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Ministry of Human Resource Development. Priya Sethi said that BJP Government is committed to stop gender discrimination of children and ensure the survival and protection of girls besides taking due care of making them educated to enable them to stand on their own feet and lead an independent life. Priya Sethi also appreciated the efforts of Convenor and Co-convenor of District Jammu and District West namely Saroj Manhas, Sarojani Sharma, Indu, Nidhi Mangotra and Ashi jee for opening 30 Sukanya accounts.
