Verma reviews poll arrangements in Mahore

REASI, Nov 2: To chalk out effective modalities for the smooth conduct of Assembly elections-2008 in all three Assembly constituencies of the Reasi district, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Mr. Sanjeev Verma, who is also the District Election Officer (DEO) today visited Mahore, Sungri and Chasana areas.
At Mahore, the District Election Officer convened a meeting of Returning officers, Assistant Returning Officers, Army officers, District and tehsil level officers of various departments. During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held with regard to deployment of staff and infrastructural facilities required at each polling station including the arrangement of boarding and lodging of security personnel, transport, drinking water, power supply and necessary arrangements of security.
The District Election Officer issued instructions to the Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers, District and block level officers to adopt coordinated approach in ensuring smooth conduct of Assembly elections in all the three Assembly constituencies of the district. He further asked the officers and officials of all departments to strictly adhere to Model Code of Conduct prescribed by the Election Commission of India. He asked the officers of the education department to make all school buildings which are incomplete presently functional so that polling stations could be set up there for the purpose. Various issued regarding preparation of epics, up gradation of polling stations at various places, marking of all polling stations, addition and deletion in electoral rolls, training to polling staff in Electronic Voting Machine etc was also discussed during the meeting.
He also called upon the officers of various departments to conduct an extensive survey of each and every polling station in the rural areas in different constituencies of the district so that the polling staff may not face any difficulty on the polling date.
Similar instructions were also issued by Mr. Verma at Sungri and Chasana to the officers concerned.
Among others officers of various departments also accompanied the District Election Officer during the tour.
