SDP claims popularity in Beerwah
11/2/2008 10:52:22 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 2: Just after three days of the announcement of party mandate from Beerwah Assembly Constituency, the SDP nominee Abdul Ahad Wani exhibited his power by organizing a huge public rally at Bamrada in Beerwah. It was attended by eight thousand people and the top rung political leadership participated in it. The rally was led by Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, SDP president. She was welcomed while she was taken into a procession for two kilometers on foot amid Kashmiri Wanwun by hundreds of women, drum beating and sloganeering by the enthusiastic workers. This public gathering re-established the fact that Beerwah is one of the strong constituencies of Socialistic Democratic Party. Just after the public rally the SDP candidate Abdul Ahad Wani formulated election committees for 56 villages during the workers’ meet held at his residence.
Later addressing the huge gathering, SDP supremo Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that she will be declaring the second list of candidates within two days. She said that party’s other declared candidates are also equally strong and SDP will emerge as a strong substitute to the old, worn out and rejected political parties in the coming Assembly elections. Coming down heavily on PDP, Dr Darakhshan said that those who claimed giving healing touch to public led us all to the worst ever political catastrophe in the last fifteen days that polarized the state, that took the lives of dozens of people and that sowed seeds of hatred in the minds of different communities in the state. She appealed to the people to practically reject all these elements and give a chance to the economy oriented politics of SDP in Kashmir to represent them.
