Public hearing conducted for mining blocks in Reasi

REASI, Sept 27: A public hearing for the environmental clearance of Minor mineral mining Block No 4 (Anji Khad, upstream Sula Park bridge), Block No 6 (Anji Khad, upstream Kayala bridge) and Block No 31 (Anji Khad, downstream Sula Park bridge) Reasi was organized today by J&K Pollution Control Committee.
Addl Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Abdul Sattar, presided over the entire proceedings of the public hearing. The other members of the panel comprised of representative of Regional Director, J & K Pollution Control Committee, Hansraj Singh Galoach, TO to Regional Director, J&K Pollution Control Committee, District Mineral Officer, Reasi Rakesh Kumar and Divisional Officer, Pollution Control Committee, Reasi, Angrez Singh. The Environmental Consultant of M/s P&M Solution, Noida representing the project proponent briefed the audience about the details of the proposed mining blocks including the mining method and anticipated impact from the mining in the area and the measures proposed under Environment Management Plan and Corporate Environmental Responsibility. Addl Deputy Commissioner, Reasi in his address assured the public that genuine concerns voiced by the speakers in Public hearing have been noted down and the entire proceedings of Public hearing have been video recorded and the same shall also be documented and sent to J&K Environment Impact Assessment Authority (JKEIAA) for appropriate action. DDC Member, Reasi Babu Jagjivan Lal, BDC Chairperson, Reasi Parveen Begum, Sarpanchs and a few locals expressed their views before the panel regarding the proposed mining project.
