GCOE Jammu organizes webinar on DELNET resources

JAMMU, Sept 27: The Department of Computer Applications and Department of Library Science, Govt College of Education (GCOE), a constituent College of Cluster University of Jammu organized a webinar on "DELNET resources and services, in collaboration with DELNET, New Delhi (Developing Library Network) today.
There was diverse participation of scholars, students, faculty from various disciplines of Universities and Colleges. There was total participation of 161 registrations. It was a unique webinar organised at College level for the first time in Jammu. Dr Sangeeta Koul, Director, DELNET-Delhi was the esteemed resource person of the webinar. She gave a brief introduction about the establishment of DELNET. In her lecture she highlighted the aims and objectives of DELNET particularly emphasizing how knowledge is created, recorded and disseminated among the libraries through the development of a network of libraries. She focused that how in the digital era the emerging trends can be tailored for best practices in knowledge management. She stressed that libraries need to adequately empower the users to enable them to not only efficiently and speedily identify the pertinent information from those sources and databases, but also to evaluate and utilize the information so obtained to their best practices. She also touched the major milestones of the DELNET.
Dr Kulvinder Kour Principal of the College was the chief guest for the webinar. She emphasised on the arrangement of such webinars on regular basis.
Prof Deep Bangotra (Computer applications) and Dr Anuradha Seth (Librarian) were the organizers of the webinar. Prof Deep Bangotra HOD, Computer Applications welcomed the resource person and vote of thanks was extended by Dr Anuradha Seth.
