| Situation along LoC peaceful, people need not worry: GOC 15 Corps | | | Early Times Report
Baramulla, Sept 27: Reassuring that situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir valley is peaceful, a top Army commander on Monday said that people don’t have to worry about anything as troops are prepared to deal with any eventuality. “The situation on LoC is fine. Small incidents will happen. But, I can assure you that we are well prepared for any eventuality at LoC. People of Kashmir don’t have to worry about what is happening at LoC,” General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps Lt General DP Pandey told reporters on the sideline of a function held at Army Goodwill School Boniyar in this north Kashmir district. The reassurance by the top Army commander comes a day after Pakistani troops violated cease fire by resorting to indiscriminate shelling and firing near the LoC in Teetwal sector in north Kashmir district of Kupwara. The shelling, which last for about 10 to 15 minutes, was the first ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops since February this year in the valley. The Indian and Pakistani armies on February 25, 2020 had announced that they would cease firing across the LoC while recommitting themselves to a 2003 ceasefire agreement. However, there has been an increase in the activities from across the LoC with Indian troops foiling infiltration attempts from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) during the last over a week. Five militants, who managed to infiltrate into this side of LoC, were killed last week by alert troops in Uri sector in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. Two infiltrators were killed and three soldiers were injured on Sunday in an encounter at LoC in Uri sector, where three heavily armed militants were gunned down by the troops near Hatlanga post on September 23. Lt General Pandey last week said that security forces have anticipating change in the attitude of Pakistan during two months -- September and October. |
