| KVK Poonch organizes conference on 'Climate Resilient Technologies and Methods' | | | Early Times Report
POONCH, Sept 28: KVK Poonch of SKUAST Jammu organized live video conference on Climate Resilient Technologies and Methods' at KVK Campus Poonch. Prime Minister Narendra Modi have dedicated to the nation 35 crop varieties with special traits in a nation-wide programme. Meant to create mass awareness for adoption of climate resilient technologies, the pan-India event has been held at all ICAR institutes, state and central agricultural universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). The special crop varieties have been developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to address the climate change as well as malnutrition. These crop varieties feature like climate resilience and higher nutrient content. These special traits crops include varieties that address the anti-nutritional factors found in some crops that adversely affect human and animal health. On the occasion, Prime Minister of India also dedicated to the nation the newly constructed campus of National Institute of Biotic Stress Tolerance at Raipur. It has been established to take up the basic and strategic research in biotic stresses, develop human resources and provide policy support.
KVK Poonch of SKUAST-Jammu has also organized the programme at its campus Qazi Morah, in which more than 100 farm men and women and officials of allied departments were participated. Farmers-Scientists interaction was also conducted during the programme. Dr Muzafar Mir, Scientist Horticulture, interacted with Farm men and women, where the farmers have highlighted their farming related quire and same were addressed on the occasion. Aijaz Ahmed Kohili (DAO, Poonch), Ab Hamid Kohili (HDO, Poonch) also interacted with farmers and aware them about the new departmental schemes beneficial for farming community. At the end of the programme vote of thanks was presented by Dr Muzafar Mir, Scientist KVK Poonch. |
