RAJOURI, Sept 28: A meeting of the District Level Task Force Committee for implementation of Mission Youth was today held here under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan
Under the Mission, District Rajouri has constituted 315 Panchayat level Youth Clubs to engage them in range of progressive activities to set in motion a sustained process of socio-economic development by tapping the local resources.
Officer on Special Duty for Mission Youth, Dr Abdul Khabir gave a detailed resume on the objectives envisioned under Mission Youth. He said Mission youth is the Apex body of the government for youth engagement and outreach in J&K and its core agenda is to positively engage youth for their overall well being within the society by making them stakeholders in the development of the Union Territory.
He informed that Mission Youth covers a wide range of activities including promotion of self-employment through schemes like Tejaswini, MUMKIN, development of Tourist Village network, generating sector-specific employment, Skill Development, SAHYTA, AVSAR, PAARVAZ, besides eradication of drug abuse through De-addiction and de-radicalization, promoting green youth alliance, constitution of youth clubs, holding talent hunts, establishment of District youth centres, special initiatives for youth with disabilities, Universities collaboration initiatives JK Super-75( boys and girls), young innovators programs for holistic and pragmatic youth engagement and empowerment on sustainable lines.
The Officer on Special Duty gave a detailed description of each of the initiatives one by one in the meeting.
The OSD said that the vision is to make Mission Youth a one-stop solution for all youth aspirations and channelise their energy in a positive direction by providing ways of livelihood generation.
The meeting was also informed that 315 Panchayat level clubs have already been constituted and as many as 22 youth clubs have established their office in the government buildings provided to them.
It was informed in the meeting that District Youth Centres are being set up as Centres of Excellence to provide a platform for constructive engagement of youth. These DYCs would provide opportunities to young people to explore and recognize intellectual and professional potentials; provide the youth with professional counseling; systematic assistance and a role to play in the socio-economic development of J&K. The DYCs will also focus on opportunities for skill development, social interaction and recreation.
The Deputy Commissioner said that youth is the future of the country and the need of the hour is to make personal efforts to channelize the energy of the youth in a positive direction.
Stressing on tapping local potential, the DC said that the District Administration Rajouri is going to establish 5000 dairy units in the district to promote milk and milk products under ODOP scheme and mission youth shall also contribute in achieving this goal.
Referring to recent Supreme Court guidelines, he said the girls can also join National Defence Academy and the district administration would organise special camps to generate awareness among them in this regard and motivate them to compete for NDA.
He also said that special training/ coaching for the girls in consultation with the Mission Youth shall also be organised in the district to help them prepare for the NDA exam.
He also directed the concerned officers to generate mass awareness about the schemes being implemented by their Departments under Mission Youth so that the public can avail the benefits of the same.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Pawan Parihar; GM DIC, Manzoor Hussain; Chief Planning Officer, Mohd Khurshid; ASP, Vivek Shekhar; ACD, Sushil Khajuria, DSEO, Bilal Mir; ACP, Mohd Rashid; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhat, DSHO, Dr Sarfraz Naseem Choudhary and other district officers.
