| JSS not to contest elections | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 3: Jammu Sangarsh Samiti, which has decided not to contest the forthcoming assembly elections in the state, will strive to evolve consensus among all the organizations and groups advocating separate state of Jammu to come on a single platform and field joint candidates, avoiding infighting among them and division of common vote bank of the supporters of Jammu statehood. Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the working group of the party held under the chairmanship of its President Amarnath Gupta. The Samiti would be holding a conference of its workers of Jammu city on November 9 to launch the campaign for all the groups fighting for separate Jammu state to come on a single platform and work for the success of common candidates supporting Jammu state. Samiti will not, however, field any candidate of its own in the elections, but will intensify the struggle for separate statehood, Gupta said. Gupta expressed satisfaction that a large number of former activists of the dissolved Jammu State Morcha are joining the Samiti to launch a vigorous and concerted battle for the achievement of their goal. Those present at the meeting were Jagmohan Khanna, R K Anand, Vimal Gupta, Rishikesh Prashar, Rattan Ahuja, Tara Wazir, Dheeraj Kour, S.Avtar Singh and Abhimanyu Mahajan. |
