| Muzaffar Baig unwell : PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Nov 3: The PDP leadership has rubbished reports suggesting that a senior party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, has fallen out with the Muftis. A senior PDP leader said such reports and rumours were baseless adding that Baig continued to be the trusted man of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. Explaining the reason for Baig's absence during party meetings, the PDP leader said that Baig was unwell for the last several days. He said the former Deputy Chief Minister continued to be down with migraine and the disc problem. On a couple of occasions he was to be escorted by three men to the party meetings as Baig could not even walk without a help. The PDP leader, in reply to a question, said that within days the party had been able to gear up its poll exercise and there had been no major problem for the party leadership in the allotment of tickets to its candidates. He said after the poll schedule was announced and the PDP decided to contest the election and a number of senior leaders and activists had started enrolling themselves as members of "our party." He said "we will be able to open our account in Jammu region from where we drew a blank in 2002 election". He agreed that the main contest in the Kashmir valley was between the PDP and the National Conference. |
