Maharashtra strewn with arms: Live bomb in Malegaon, explosives’ haul in Nashik
9/13/2006 9:18:49 PM

Malegaon, Sept 13: The entire area around the Mohammadia Madrassa Centre in Malegaon has been cordoned off following information that a bomb has been planted inside the building. Fire Brigade personnel have been stationed outside the centre and the bomb squad was searching the premises located at Kidwai Road.

Meanwhile, there are reports that explosives have been found in Raj Sarthi building in Nashik. Sources say that 11 detonators, 5 gelatin sticks and one revolver has been found from the building.

The crowd around the place has been disbursed by police and media also kept away from the building.

Anti-terrorist squad officials, including S Jaiswal, alongwith IG P K Jain and Malegaon Superintendent of Police Rajwardhan, have reached the spot.

Maharashtra govt likely to submit report on Malegaon blasts

The Centre is expecting a report from Maharashtra on the Malegaon blasts by today as security personnel probing the incident have picked up a number of persons, a senior Home Ministry official said here yesterday.

A number of persons are being questioned and the security establishment here is awaiting a report on the identification of the group likely to be involved in the blasts, he said.

"We are expecting the report by tomorrow," he said evading questions as to who could be responsible for the act or whether the incident had any linkages with the Mumbai blasts in July this year.

"The investigation into the Malegaon blasts is moving in the right direction and we hope to solve it soon," he said.

The Centre was awaiting the report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory on the type of explosives used to trigger the blasts in Malegaon that left 31 people dead and nearly 300 injured.

However, the police have said the explosive devices used in Friday`s attacks contained a mixture of RDX, Ammonium Nitrate and fuel oil.
