| Workshop on Family News Service | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Nov 3: A two-day training workshop on Family News Service (FNS) organized by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), J&K State Branch, Srinagar commenced at famous tourist resort, Patnitop about 44 KM from here on Monday. As many as 25 participants including volunteers and staff of Red Cross Society from across the State are participating in the workshop. The Red Cross Family News Service training program would help the trainees to reestablish contact with family members after separation in situation of humanitarian crisis. The Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Ajay Khajuria was the chief guest on the inaugural day of the workshop while General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), J&K, G.J. Nahvi presided. While giving the over view of the workshop, the General Secretary, IRCS said that main idea for organizing this workshop was to help restoration of lost links of nears and dears ones due to break out of war or different types of natural disasters. He said that Family News Service of IRCS is doing commendable job in re-establishing contacts with family members and added that the J&K Chapter has started its maiden workshop in J&K, here at Patnitop for volunteers. Nahvi said that there was dire need to launch awareness about the missing links among the common masses. For the purpose, he said that more such training -cum-awareness programmes would be organized in the state for the benefit of the sufferers. |
