Police recover Rs 2 lakh stolen cash; thief arrested

REASI, Oct 3: Police have recovered Rs 2 stolen cash within days of the offence and also arrested the thief involved in the theft.
An aged man Farangi Singh S/o Mani Ram R/o Sailanjan Tehsil Thakrakote reported in Police Station Reasi that on 30th September he withdrew two lakh six thousand rupees from his bank account at Reasi, said police sources.
From Reasi market he purchased some vegetables and left for his home in a passanger Vehicle (matador), after deboarding the Vehicle found that the bag containing money is missing. He tried to enquire from other passengers about the bag but no clue was found.
Next day he came to Reasi and searched for his bag at Bus Stand and other areas visited by him that day, but all in vain. Then he decided to bring the matter in the notice of Police. On getting this information Case FIR no 198/2021 U/S 379 IPC was registered at Police Station Reasi and investigations initiated.
Police team swung into action and zeroed upon some suspects. With the help of CCTV footage it was found that one Suspect was following the complainant and boarded the Vehicle following the complainant. During enquiry it came fore that he deboarded the Vehicle at a few km at Seela Reasi. After hectic efforts he was identified as Mohd Yousaf S/o Mohd Hussain R/o Mahadev Reasi.
Police team raided and rounded up the suspect Mohd Yousaf and put him to sustained questioning to which Mohd Yousaf confessed that he stole the bag of the complainant along with money from the Vehicle that day. On his disclosure Police team recovered the bag along with cash Rs 2 Lakh from his home.
Farangi Singh is a handicapped person with his one arm not functioning properly and on that day he took the help of Mohd Yousaf, who is running a Rehri at Bus Stand Reasi for payment of the vegetables purchased by him. After finding money in the bag of Complainant he followed him in the matador and after getting a chance fled away with the bag.
On this accused got arrested and further investigation in the case is going on.
